It was a sight Swans fans had been waiting for, and this morning, the local Coffs Harbour crowd had the box seat.

For the first time this pre-season, Swans forwards Kurt Tippett and Lance Franklin completed the main training session and performed at full capacity in a number of match-simulation drills.

The pair, who had been completing individual programs for the majority of the pre-season, both led at pace, marked strongly and had several shots on goal.

Despite his abrupt end to the 2013 season with a knee injury, Tippett moved fluidly at Friday’s session and gelled well with the Swans’ mids in full-field drills.

As well as his offensive arsenal, Franklin also impressed with his defensive abilities in the forward line, with the dual Coleman medallist picking off a number of balls from kick-ins.

One player who worked closely with the pair in this morning’s session was Gary Rohan, who lined up as the third forward in the majority of drills.

Rohan said it was exciting to work with both of the Swans’ big forwards.

“It was good with the boys back training,” Rohan told SwansTV.

“I just didn’t want to get in their way and I think I was more of a dummy lead while the boys put on the show, which was good.

“They have a lot of experience between them and when I’m more up the ground they can tell me what to do.

“It really improves my games as well, so I’m really looking forward to a big year with them.”

This morning’s training was the final session of the club’s four-day camp in Coffs Harbour, with the team set to return to Sydney late this afternoon.

Swans defender Dane Rampe said he felt this week’s camp was beneficial for the side ahead of the pre-season competition.

“It’s been a very refreshing week,” he said.

“I think it’s been good in that it mixed up the routine of heading up to the club every day and it’s good waking up somewhere different and getting up around the waves and having somewhere with a bit of peace and quiet.”

Rampe said the team had got a lot out of the Swans’ two sessions at C.ex Coffs International Stadium, with a number of players returning to full team drills during the four-day camp.

“On Wednesday we did a big game and I think everyone was pretty sore from that, so today was just about getting the legs moving and getting all the sore spots out,” he said.

“It was good … seeing Buddy and Tippo and a few of the rehab boys back out on the track.

“The whole camp has been really positive.”
