Lance Franklin, Lewis Jetta, Mike Pyke and Lewis Roberts-Thomson will all feature for the first time in this year’s NAB Challenge series after being named in the 29-man squad for Thursday night’s match against the West Coast Eagles.

After all getting through their modified pre-season programs and this month’s intra-club, the experienced quartet, with six premiership medallions between them, will get the chance to take to Blacktown International Sportspark in just over 48 hours’ time.

They are joined by rookie defender Xavier Richards as the five additions to the squad which defeated GWS by 40 points in Canberra last week.

After not making the final team for last week’s NAB Challenge game, Aliir Aliir, Craig Bird and Dan Robinson have again been named in this week’s initial squad.

Having impressed in their pre-season returns from injury, Tom Mitchell, Rhyce Shaw and Sam Reid get another vital opportunity to get some match fitness and touch into them ahead of the home and away season.

Co-captains Kieren Jack and Jarrad McVeigh, as well as fellow leaders Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn and Ted Richards have all been rested for Thursday’s clash against the Eagles.
