Jarrad McVeigh has received positive news from the AFL’s Match Review Panel on his 29th birthday, with the Sydney Swans co-captain cleared of any wrongdoing following a first quarter clash with Adelaide’s Matthew Jaensch.

After being reported on match day for rough conduct, the panel concluded that the force used by McVeigh was not sufficient enough to warrant the report.

Incident assessed:

The match day report against the Sydney Swans’ Jarrad McVeigh for rough conduct against Adelaide’s Matthew Jaensch in the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed.

The ball is handballed towards Jaensch who fumbles to collect the ball, McVeigh makes high contact with Jaensch in an attempted bump.

After viewing all the available footage, speaking with the umpire who laid the report and receiving a medical report from the Adelaide Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used by McVeigh was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.

No further action was taken.
