Sydney Swans Chairman Andrew Pridham and CEO Andrew Ireland today welcomed the appointment of former Swans’ Chairman Richard Colless, AM as a Trustee of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust.

New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell and Minister for Sport and Recreation Gabrielle Upton made the announcement today, which will see Colless replace long serving Trustee Rodney Cavalier, AO.

Mr Pridham said that Richard was an outstanding candidate to join the Trust.

“Richard is an incredibly respected member of the business and sporting communities,” Mr Pridham said.

“He has been a wonderful leader in business, and his contribution to the Swans, and the broader AFL community in New South Wales, Western Australia and, in fact, nationally has been simply outstanding.

“His strong track record with events and experience with stadia will make him a valuable addition to the Trust.”

Pridham also congratulated former SCGT Chairman Rodney Cavalier for his contribution to the Trust over more than 18 years, including 13 as Chairman.

“I congratulate Rod for all his hard work over the past 18 years and wish him very well, and I congratulate Chairman Tony Shepherd, AO and Deputy Chairman Rod McGeoch, AO on their recent appointments,” Mr Pridham said.

“The SCG has been home to the Swans in Sydney for more than 30 years and we look forward to working with Tony and the Trust to ensure our strong relationship continues.”
