The Sydney Swans can advise that a trade has been facilitated for Shane Biggs to reach his desired club - the Western Bulldogs. The trade also resulted in the club's second round compensation pick (for Nick Malceski) advancing two positions higher in the draft order. Tim Membrey will seek opportunities elsewhere for 2015 via the pre-season draft.

Sydney Swans General Manager of Football, Dean Moore, said that while it had been a disappointing period in regards to the trading of players, it was exciting to have secured three young local QBE Sydney Swans Academy players via the bidding system.

"Certainly the highlight for us has been the addition of three young New South Wales players to our list in Isaac Heeney, Jack Hiscox and Abaina Davis. Last year only one New South Wales-based player was recruited via the National Draft, this year, the Swans alone will select three.

"This is a positive sign the Academies are helping grow the national talent pool.

"We have also committed to upgrading some talented players from our rookie list in Jake Lloyd, Xavier Richards and Daniel Robinson, another New South Wales player.

"In the past, we have been very active in the trade period and been willing and able to facilitate fair trades with other clubs.

"While much of the focus has centred around the recruitment of Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett, the fact is the club has offered opportunities to many players not playing regular senior football at the their club.

"Other clubs, including those at the top end of the ladder have been able to use this period to recruit and strengthen their squads.  This was not an opportunity afforded to us.

"Players like Ted Richards, Rhyce Shaw, Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn, Marty Mattner and Mitch Morton are such players who have been given senior opportunities at the Swans where perhaps they may not have elsewhere.

"This highlights how disappointed we are to be effectively excluded from this year's trade period.

"It is also disappointing when players who wish to join our club are denied the opportunity, despite the club willing to work on fair and equitable trades," Moore said.
