The Sydney Swans forwards were on song in the club’s 63-point win over the Western Bulldogs, with Lance Franklin, Kurt Tippett and Adam Goodes combining for 12 goals at Etihad Stadium.

Following Franklin’s show-stopping nine-goal effort against St Kilda the week before, ‘Buddy’ booted six goals against the Dogs, while Tippett added four goals and Goodes kicked two in the Swans’ 17th win for the season.

A seven-goal blitz in the opening quarter helped the Swans to a comfortable lead over the Dogs, and a huge second half also helped the club to one of their biggest wins for the season.

In the absence of Josh Kennedy, who missed the match with a hamstring complaint, Luke Parker (32 possessions, one goal) and Jarrad McVeigh (33 possessions) were dominant in the midfield, with Parker laying a game-high 11 tackles in the win.

Young Swan Jake Lloyd, who earned an AFL Rising Star nomination the previous week, produced one of his performances for the year, with the 20-year-old picking up 21 possessions, five marks and two goals against the Dogs.

Speaking after the match, Swans coach John Longmire said his team’s fast start ensured the match was played on their terms.

"To start like we did was really important. To be able to jump out of the blocks and have that seven-goal first quarter and reduce their scoring impact was critical," Longmire said

"It allows you to do other things if you're able to get off to such a good start."

Key forward Sam Reid was a late withdrawal from the match, with first-year Swan Jeremy Laidler coming into the side to play his 19th game for the season.
