Sydney Swans forward Kurt Tippett remains on track to play in round one of the premiership season, despite sustaining an injury to his right tibia/fibula joint during last Friday’s intra-club match at Marrickville.

The injury is unrelated to Tippett’s previous left knee issues and is expected to sideline him for 3-4 weeks.

Sydney Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley said it was a disappointing setback for Tippett after what has been a strong pre-season.

“Kurt has had an outstanding pre-season so we don’t expect this setback to significantly impact his readiness for round one,” Harley said.

“He is likely to sit out our three NAB Challenge matches but at this stage remains on track for round one.”

In other injury news, young midfielder Jake Lloyd has recovered well from a minor elbow injury sustained during last Friday’s intra-club and will train on Wednesday in a bid to prove his fitness for Friday’s NAB Challenge match in Coffs Harbour.

Teams for Friday’s NAB Challenge match will be released at midday on Wednesday.
