Isaac Heeney has been cleared of any serious injury but will be monitored ahead of selection of the final team to take on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

Speaking to SwansTV in this week’s HCF Injury Update, General Manager of Football Tom Harley said Heeney had suffered a non-serious ankle injury during the Swans’ fourth round clash against Fremantle at Domain Stadium.

The fourth-gamer was subbed out in the third quarter and replaced by Gary Rohan.

“It wasn’t anything major at all,” Harley said.

“He tweaked his ankle a little bit and we’ll obviously monitor him as we go through the week and we’ll assess him further on Thursday in our final training session.

“He’s the only one under a cloud at this stage so albeit a tough game we’ve come through relatively unscathed.”

In some positive news for mature-age recruit Nic Newman, the Swans’ 35th pick in the 2015 Rookie Draft is expected to line up for the club’s NEAFL outfit in what will be his first competitive hit out since arriving at the club during the off-season.

Newman injured his knee the day before the draft and has been working “diligently” throughout the rehabilitation process, even standing in as runner for the first three rounds of the NEAFL.

“He’ll have limited game time (against Sydney Uni on Saturday) but it’s the start of the journey back,” Harley said.

“We look forward to seeing Nic get up to speed quickly.”

Aliir Aliir, who suffered a minor PCL injury in his knee in the NEAFL opener against Ainslie, will be also be assessed later in the week to determine his return date.

Club doctors have also earmarked NEAFL’s Round 8 weekend as a realistic target for Lloyd Perris to aim for as he puts the finishing touches on his comeback from a knee reconstruction.
