Following two patient years on the Swans’ Rookie List, Dan Robinson will make his long-awaited AFL debut against Carlton.

The 20-year-old couldn’t hide his elation after emerging from a meeting with the entire coaching staff who notified him of the good news.

Speaking to guest SwansTV presenter Gary Rohan, Robinson was all smiles ahead of Friday night’s clash at the SCG.

“I’ve still got the shakes I think, I’m still in shock but really excited,” Robinson said.

“Horse (coach John Longmire) grabbed me from the change rooms and took me up to Match Committee.

“All the coaches were there, so it was a bit confronting walking in but great news coming out.”

Originally from the Mosman Swans Junior Football Club on Sydney’s north shore, Robinson spent three years on a NSW Scholarship before his Rookie List elevation in 2013.

The midfielder-forward, who possesses a strong voice and is a quick mover of the football, was then elevated to the senior list during the off-season and caught the attention of the coaches in recent weeks following impressive performances in the NEAFL.

Robinson featured in the Swans’ 2015 NAB Challenge campaign which provided a taste for the top level, an experience the #27 will use to help settle the nerves ahead of his debut.

“Two years on the Rookie List and here I am, so I’m pretty happy with how I’m going,” Robinson said.

“I guess the main message (from the coaches) is to rest up and have a good night’s sleep just so I don’t burn myself out with the excitement of playing my first game.”

Robinson replaces Jake Lloyd (omitted) in the side which defeated Hawthorn by four points last weekend.
