After winning Round 3’s Goal of the Year nomination, Luke Parker has a chance to hit the scoreboard again in the distinguished prize.

Parker’s long bomb goal from inside the centre square against Richmond on Friday night was judged among the best from Round 13.

With about eight and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter Parker roved a ruck contest in the middle of the SCG and burst forward.

In about five paces Parker threw the footy on his boot, aiming for the Lance Franklin v Alex Rance one-on-one close to the goal square.

The kick instead turned into a torpedo and not only travelled over the Franklin and Rance’s heads but, with a bit of help from the slippery turf and some nice shepherding work from the key forward, bounced through to put the Swans 19 points up.

Parker will compete against Richmond’s Trent Cotchin and Carlton’s Dennis Armfield for the Round 13 gong which then goes towards the overall award.
