Sydney Swans captain Kieren Jack says his side cannot afford to dwell on Saturday night’s loss to Hawthorn with the tough task of a trip to Perth to take on West Coast on Sunday.

The Swans will be looking to rebound from their 89 point loss to the Hawks when they face the Eagles at Domain Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Jack said it was important his side was able to refocus their attention on turning around their recent run of poor form.

“The players were disgusted and we had a chat, just players, to nut out what was going on and the steps we need to take to go forward,” Jack said.

“As bad as the loss was you can’t afford to dwell on it.

“We need to learn from it and move forward pretty quick because we take on West Coast on Sunday.

“They are up and going and flying at the moment so we need to get things right for that.”

It was a frank assessment from the skipper after the match, saying his side simply had to improve on their form of recent weeks.

“It is still a little bit raw because it was embarrassing from our end,” he said.

“To be honest we are not in great form at the moment, last week against Brisbane we were pretty ordinary and probably lucky to get over the line against them.

“There are some key areas that we need to work on and we are just not up to scratch at the moment.”

Jack said there was little doubt that Hawthorn were the benchmark side of the competition this season following their wins over the Swans and Fremantle.

“You take your hat off to Hawthorn as they were tremendous but we were really poor,” he said.

“We have some work to do and we are fully aware of that going forward but they are certainly the benchmark.

“There is a bit of talk about Fremantle, us and West Coast but I think we are all well and truly chasing Hawthorn.”
