Many players have graced the SCG over the years, but there hasn't been many more electrifying than Rhyce Shaw at full flight.

Shaw made a name for himself across the competition for breaking lines and taking the game on from the half-back line, that trademark run and bounce thrilling fans over seven seasons.

In a career spanning 234 games to date Shaw has taken the most bounces (483) of any Swan and the third most bounces (690) of any AFL/VFL player in history – or as far back as the record books show.

Shaw sits behind only North Melbourne’s Brent Harvey (997) and GWS-based little brother Heath Shaw (735) on the all-time list.

Shaw has bounced the ball 174 times on the SCG, a venue which the dashing defender will line up for the 47th time on Saturday against Gold Coast.

And for the final time with ‘Shawry’ retiring at seasons end.

News: Lloyd returns to face Suns

Shawry announced the news on the eve of what will be his seventh finals series in an effort to selflessly avert attention away from himself during the Swans’ finals campaign.

The act symbolizes the 33-year-old’s approach since crossing over from Collingwood at the end of 2008 – it’s always been a team-first approach.

Voted into the leadership group after only one season in Sydney, Shawry has lived by and helped carry the Club’s culture.

And will until his last game - whenever that might be.

So make sure you get along to the SCG on Saturday night to farewell ‘Shawry’ in the best way possible.
