Forward coach Henry Playfair says...

"Deano had a really strong finish to the year. In terms of what he adds, he adds real athletic power, speed, endurance and vertical leap so they're all pretty good assets. We're really hoping to maximise those and get him as much ball as we can, while getting him kicking goals as a key forward as well. The final in Perth showed what he's capable of; he probably would have liked to kick straighter that day but that showed the potential going forward which was a big step for him to do that in a final. I think (for Towers to improve) it's about capitalising on his last three or four games with us. He's been in and out of the team for the bulk of the year. Played a good game against Port Adelaide in Round 2, outside that he has been on the fringe which is a difficult place to be as a player sometimes as you're not feeling like you fully belong in the senior team. I think by the end of the year he had great belief in what he could do. With that belief, the next step is to put together what he did for a month over the course of the entire season."

Season highlight...

Already lacking a number of key players going into this year's qualifying final against Fremantle, the Swans' plight was made worse when key forward Sam Reid went down with a hamstring injury.

Enter, Dean Towers.

The 24-year-old, who had been in and out of the side all season, stood tall to play his most telling game for the red and white.

He collected 15 disposals, take a career-high seven marks and boot a crucial goal to be judged among the Swans' best players in the enthralling clash at Domain Stadium.

Towers, who played 11 senior games this season, showed his potential that afternoon and should push for regular senior selection in 2016.
