Swans Coach John Longmire is confident Lance Franklin will return to the club for pre-season training.

Franklin missed the 2015 finals series to undergo treatment for a mental health condition.

Longmire has been in regular contact with the star forward since he went on a break for personal leave in early September.

Speaking on ABC Grandstand’s Saturday Agenda, Longmire was asked about Franklin’s well-being when responding to questions on the broader issue of mental health.

Longmire said the 28-year-old was in good shape and is likely to join teammates when they return in early December.

“Lance is coming along really well,” Longmire said on ABC radio.

“He’s been getting great support from professionals which is the way to do it.

“We’ve been leaving the support network to those professionals as they’re the ones with the most qualifications.

“We’re really confident he’ll be bouncing back for a terrific preseason.”

The Swans’ first to third-year players return in late November while the rest of the playing group resume on December 3.
