Star midfielder Dan Hannebery will enter Friday night’s Club Champion count as one of the hot favourites to take home the Bob Skilton Medal.

The 24-year-old had a career-best season to win the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award and All Australian honours on top of a fifth-place finish in the Brownlow Medal.

He was once again a ball magnet during the 2015 season collecting over 30 disposals on 14 occasions throughout the season.

It is the second time in Hannebery’s short but already impressive career he has been honoured with All Australian selection, plonking himself in the starting midfield alongside the likes of Nat Fyfe and Matt Priddis.

Hannebery played a number of standout games in his seventh season but none more so than in Round 18 against Adelaide at the SCG. He gathered 40 disposals and booted three goals in front of 38,000-strong SCG crowd.

After signing a new long-term deal to remain at the club until the end of the 2021 season his footy went from strength to strength. The midfielder averaged 30 possessions including 12 contested and 5 tackles per game.

He is a strong chance to be wearing his first Bob Skilton Medal when the award is handed out at Friday’s ceremony.
