Adam Goodes' war dance, brought to life during this year's Indigenous Round, has been preserved on canvas.

The Sydney Swans champion and renowned painter Jamie Cooper joined forces earlier this season to immortalise the Brownlow Medallist's famous goal celebration.

Cooper, the master behind the Sydney Swans' Team of the Century and 2005 Premiership prints, both of which hang proudly inside Swans HQ, worked closely with the choreographer for months to ensure everything the dance represents was captured.

"This moment really brings together my two passions,” Goodes said, “my passion for my heritage and who I am as a person and my passion for football."

Goodes was overwhelmed by the intricate detail in the brushwork and how every important facet of that image wasn't overlooked including the Indigenous-themed mouthguard worn in a majority of his 372 games, the special jumper designed by his mother and the stage of the SCG where the three-time Bob Skilton Medallist thrilled fans for many years.

Goodes said the man behind the brush in Cooper was "the right man for the job" and was excited to share the finished product with family, friends and the many Swans supporters who have supported him over the journey.

"Jamie has been an amazing artist over many years. He's an ex-Fitzroy player so he knows the industry well and his commitement to not only our football club but the whole industry with historical prints is just incredible," Goodes said.

"To have this painting that captures that moment forever now is something pretty special.

"I really hope that people out there can see the importance of this image and appreciate it for what it is - a moment in time that raised awareness for aboriginal culture."
