Sydney Swans youngster Isaac Heeney has shown no signs of the knee tendonitis that has limited his pre-season with a lively opening term in the club's first intra-club match on Friday.

The 19-year-old has been managed through his second summer in the AFL, but opposed to veteran defender Nick Smith, Heeney was dangerous across half forward.

He booted two goals in the first quarter, his second a brilliant passage of play when he turned Smith inside out in the forward pocket, before snapping truly.

Lance Franklin covered plenty of territory, and although the star forward wasn't always effective, he set up Heeney's first and proved too mobile for young backman Aliir Aliir.

Boom draftee Callum Mills showed plenty of class and composure off half back opposed to Tom Mitchell and Harry Cunningham, with fellow first-year player Tyrone Leonardis equally effective at the opposite end, also in defence.

Star midfielders Josh Kennedy, Kieren Jack and Luke Parker all got their hands on plenty of possessions.

Co-captain Jarrad McVeigh, defender Ted Richards, and speedsters Ben McGlynn, Zak Jones and Gary Rohan were among the Swans to look on in front a handy crowd in Sydney's inner west.
