Speedster signs on

Rohan re-signs, August 18, 2016 Gary Rohan talks to SwansTV about committing to the club until the end of 2020
Gary Rohan has signed a new deal until the end of the 2020 season.

Sydney Swans speedster Gary Rohan has recommitted to the Club for a further three seasons.

Rohan, who had another 12 months to go on his existing contract, will now remain in red and white until at least the end of 2020.

Recruited with pick six in the 2009 AFL Draft, Rohan has played 73 AFL games since joining the Swans. A country boy from Cobden in rural Victoria, the 25-year-old has provided plenty of highlights for Swans fans over the journey, with his dash and knack for a spectacular goal a trademark of his game.

General Manager of Football Tom Harley says the Swans are rapt to secure Rohan’s signature.

“We’re delighted that Gary has committed to us until at least the end of the 2020 season,” Harley said.

“We think Gary can impact the game in a number of ways and he provides us with flexibility in that he can play multiple roles.

“He was drafted as an 18-year-old and is a very popular member of the team – as such we look forward to watching Gary continue his career at the Swans.”

Rohan was due to become a free agent at the end of 2017. He joins a number of players in recommitting to the Swans this season including Kieren Jack, Nick Smith, Luke Parker, Jeremy Laidler, Harry Cunningham, George Hewett, Aliir Aliir, Jake Lloyd and Tom Papley. Coach John Longmire has also extended his commitment to Sydney until the end of the 2020 season.
