The Sydney Swans are pleased to welcome former AFL Commissioner Sam Mostyn to the Club’s Board of Directors. She will replace retiring Director Andrew McMaster, who has served on Sydney’s Board since 1995.

Mostyn brings a wealth of experience to the Swans, with expertise spanning corporate and government affairs, business, legal affairs, sport, social inclusion and the arts.

In 2005, Mostyn was the first woman appointed to the AFL Commission. During 11 years in that role she was a strong advocate for the AFL’s Respect and Responsibility policies and Indigenous programs, as well as being a driving force in the development of a national women’s league.

Mostyn is currently a Non-executive Director of Virgin Australia, Mirvac, CoverMore and Transurban. She is the President of the Australian Council for International Development, the Chair of Carriageworks and Citibank Australia, and the Deputy Chair of the Diversity Council of Australia.  In addition, she is on the Board of The Climate Council, ClimateWorks Australia and the GO Foundation.

Sydney Swans Chairman Andrew Pridham has welcomed Mostyn to the Swans and thanked outgoing Director Andrew McMaster for his service.

“We are thrilled to have Sam joining our team. She has been a trailblazer for women in football and a strong advocate for social inclusion – which aligns with our football club’s core values,” Pridham said.

“Sam is not only passionate about our sport, she also has wealth of business and corporate knowledge across a range of industries, which will be a valuable addition to our Board.

“To Andrew, on behalf of everyone at the Sydney Swans, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you. He has shown tremendous dedication and commitment over more than 20 years, and quite simply, our football club wouldn’t be where it is today without him.”

Mostyn will officially commence as a Director of the Swans early next year at Sydney’s AGM.
