Sydney Swans former co-captain Jarrad McVeigh is in doubt for the start of season 2017 after injuring his calf at training.

The injury will sideline McVeigh for 3-4 weeks, meaning it’s uncertain if he’ll play in Round 1.

The Swans will kick off the season in a clash with Port Adelaide at the SCG on March 25.

Meanwhile a host of senior players are set to have their first hit-out of the season on Friday night when Sydney takes on GWS in Blacktown.

Lance Franklin, Sam Naismith and Dane Rampe are among the players named after recovering from injury.
