Sydney Swans bounced back to the NEAFL winners list when they dismantled Southport by 102 points at Blacktown on Saturday afternoon.

The Swans led by only eight points at quarter-time, but it was one-way traffic thereafter as the Swans showed no mercy in a 20.9 (129) to 3.9 (29) thrashing.

Impressive performances from Brandon Jack, who was prolific with 34 disposals and nine inside 50s, and a six-goal haul from draftee Toby Pink, were no match for the Sharks as they struggled to combat the Swans superior run and skills.

Six goals to one in the second quarter broke the match open for Sydney, who went into half-time with a 37-point buffer.

While the effort from Southport’s Fraser Thurlow, Jordan Keras and Andrew Boston were apparent, the fitness of the team showed in the third quarter when they were out-scored another five goals to one.

Sydney rammed home the advantage in the last when they booted seven goals to none, sending the Sharks tumbling to the bottom of the ladder.

Sam Fisher (34 disposals and a goal) and Harry Cunningham (25 disposals and seven inside 50s) controlled the bulk of play for the Swans as Pink took full advantage of great supply in the forward 50.

Keras continued his superb form for the Sharks with 38 disposals and a whopping 17 clearances, but the Sharks lack of depth was exposed with Sydney producing too many winners around the ground.

Next week the Sydney Swans have a bye, while Southport Sharks take on the Brisbane Lions at South Pine Sports Complex.
