Jarrad McVeigh is confident he has overcome early season injury concerns as he hits his straps heading into the final six matches of the season.

The veteran Swan played just two games up to Round 15 after suffering a number of soft tissue injuries early in the season.

Since his return in Round 15 against Melbourne the 30-year-old has been influential in the Swans return to form.

In that match against the Demons he finished with 24 disposals and 10 marks across half back before continuing to take control in the back half over the last two weeks in wins over Gold Coast and GWS.

McVeigh said he was pleased to have found his form after an interrupted start to the season.

“I hurt my calf at the start of the year and that took a bit longer than expected before hurting my hamstring in the second game back,” McVeigh told 3AW radio.

“It has only been those two injuries but the way we were playing as a team you want to push back and push back a bit too early.

“In hindsight, I probably would have waited a bit longer.

“I am really enjoying the last few weeks playing with the boys again.”

Now his side is back on the winners list and in the hunt to play in September there is no doubting McVeigh has the hunger to win another flag.

“I have been really focussed on playing well and put this team in a position to have another crack at a premiership,” he said.

“We have a long way to go but that is what it is all about is winning games of footy and trying to put ourselves in a position to win a Grand Final again.

McVeigh is yet to decide on his future beyond this season but said he was continuing to have open and honest conversations with the club.

“I have been in constant communication with the footy club and I will wait and see how the rest of the year pans out,” McVeigh said.

“The start of the year wasn’t great with a few injuries but I have said that if I can play at a high level and I am injury free for the rest of the year well I would like to go on.

“It is a two-way street so there is a bit of water to go under the bridge yet but I will weigh a few things up and see how we go.”
