The Sydney Swans were out on the track yesterday as preparations intensified ahead of Friday night's cross-town clash with GWS.

The JLT Series fixture, the Swans' second in the three-week series and to be at Blacktown International Sportspark, is the second time Sydney and GWS will meet this off-season, following last month's inter-club practice match.

The Swans won that by 26 points and will be looking to replicate that performance to get another one up on their rivals and continue their strong form as Round 1 draws closer.

It was a strong hit out at Lakeside Oval but the session was soured when ruckman Sam Naismith went down with a season-ending knee injury during a match simulation drill.

Swans Media was trackside to cover all the action as it unfolded.

Aliir Aliir jokes around with assistant coach Steve Johnson before training. Aliir was restricted to skill work as the defender recovers from an ankle injury suffered in JLT1.

Training halts for a moment as Sam Naismith is carried from the ground with a serious knee injury. Concerns are realised when scans later revealed a rupture of Naismith's anterior cruciate ligament, ending the ruckman's season before it had begun.
