Reigning Sydney best and fairest Luke Parker has been cleared for his high contact with Hawthorn forward Jarman Impey on Friday night.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian found the 25-year-old was going for the football and "had no realistic alternative to contest the ball".

The last-quarter incident saw Parker and Impey contest a loose ball midway through the term while on a wing.

Impey had his head over the football and the Swan turned his body to brace for contact as he went into the contest, hitting the Hawk high.

Impey knocked the ball slightly with his right hand just before the two collided, making it seem as if Parker had run over the football to collect the Hawks forward.

The former Port Adelaide player stayed on the ground for a while before leaving the field under the blood rule after suffering a cut to the head, but he returned before the siren sounded as his side fell eight points short of Sydney at the MCG.

After the match, Parker told Fox Footy he tried to attack the football in a technically sound manner.

"I collected him pretty hard, but my view was that I tried to turn my body to protect myself as I took the ball," Parker said.

"I think I had my hands on the ball.

"I haven't watched the replay, but the main thing is he is OK.

"We'll just have to wait and see, but my view was I turned and tried to do the correct technique and take the ball and turn."

Meanwhile, veteran Swan Jarrad McVeigh has been let off for high contact with an open hand on Hawthorn midfielder Jaeger O'Meara.

Christian found there wasn't enough force to warrant a charge.

The other incident that was looked at was Swans speedster Gary Rohan's tackle on Hawks backman James Frawley.

Christian said it was a reasonable tackle in the circumstances.
