Star Fremantle small forward Michael Walters will return from injury for his side’s match with the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Saturday night.

The Dockers’ three-time leading goal-kicker will play on his side’s half-forward line in a return from a knee injury which sidelined him for two games.

Walters is lightning-quick, applies intense defensive pressure, has a natural instinct for goal and can impact in the midfield.

Defender and former Giant Nathan Wilson has also been named to return to the Dockers’ 22 after missing Round 8 due to back soreness, while Danyle Pearce and Taylin Duman are the two omissions.

But Fremantle’s biggest threats are midfielder Nat Fyfe and ruckman Aaron Sandilands.

Sandilands is a four-time All-Australian towering at 211 centimetres and Fyfe a one-time Brownlow Medallist with extraordinary ball-winning ability.

Sandilands is just about unrivalled at providing his followers with first use of the ball, while Fyfe’s burst from the pack is top-rate and he can impact on the scoreboard when ‘resting’ as a forward.

Sandilands is ranked second in most hit-outs per game (41.6) after the opening eight rounds, while Fyfe is running seventh in most disposals per game (31.6).

The duo played out of their skin in their side’s 30-point win over St Kilda last Saturday, Fyfe finishing with 36 touches and 13 clearances and Sandilands with 41 hit-outs.

Young midfielder Lachie Neale finds plenty of the Sherrin himself and is running fifth in most disposals per game (31.9), while 20-year-old Bailey Banfield has impressed as a tagger in his debut AFL season.

There is a good chance one of Josh Kennedy or Luke Parker will be given some attention.

Veteran midfielder David Mundy brings experience and a battle-hardened toughness to the contest and is Fremantle’s second-most capped player of all time (280 games) behind former champion forward Matthew Pavlich (353).

The Swans hold an 18-14 head-to-head advantage over the Dockers and collected a 104-point win when the two sides last met at the SCG in Round 21, 2017.

But Fremantle coach Ross Lyon said his side would be ready to go.

“Past results don’t count for the future,” Lyon said.

“It’s what you do in the next moment and about working hard.

“Last time we played there we got obliterated and I’m sure they take some confidence from that.

“But we want to be a team that performs everywhere so we’ve got to go away with a really strong mindset and really be a tight-knight group and get to the SCG and compete fiercely.”

The Dockers are placed 12th on the ladder ahead of Round 9 and have won four games and lost four.

They topped clearances (39-29) in victory over the Saints last week, won inside 50s (57-46) and capitalised on their strong delivery forward in a return of 13 goals and 11 behinds.
