Key defender Heath Grundy says the scoreboard pressure in Friday night’s win against Melbourne has kept the belief strong heading into Round 16.

After sitting on 2.14 midway through the second quarter the Swans turned it around to finish the match with 11 goals.

Speaking to Fox Sports following the clash, Grundy said the team was pleased with the effort over four quarters.

“We struggled a little bit early, but our first quarter was pretty solid,” Grundy said.

“Horse (John Longmire) was always positive throughout the quarter break and we managed to keep that pressure going.”

Grundy said despite a slow start to the season the belief has always been there.

“We haven’t started like that for a number of years but it’s nice to be back,” Grundy said.

“To our credit, the boys have managed to get back in the mix.

“We’ve shown in the last few weeks we can contend with the best sides – it’s just a matter of keeping that up.”

The Swans look to continue their winning form at home this week when they take on the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday afternoon at the SCG.

Gates open at 12.50pm with the Sydney Swans Reserves to taking on the Suns Reserves at 12.55pm, ahead of the main game at 4.35pm.
