Sydney Swans ruckman Kurt Tippett was on hand to present up-and-coming Queensland footballer Bruce Reville with this year’s Troy Clarke scholarship on the Gold Coast today.

The scholarship was created to honour and celebrate the legacy of AFL Queensland Hall of Famer Troy Clarke who tragically passed away aged 44.

As AFL Queensland State Development Manager, Clarke played an instrumental role in Tippett’s career, first discovering a talented basketballer and turning him into a dominant ruckman/forward.

A proud Queenslander and ambassador of the Troy Clarke Scholarship, Tippett presented this year’s award to worthy recipient, 15-year-old Bruce Reville.

From Howard in Wide Bay, Reville plays club football for the Maryborough Bears and is a member of the under-15 school team. He is coming off one of his best games, kicking six goals in the last quarter.

The talented footballer represented Queensland in the National Diversity Championships in May and after starring with the ball he was rewarded with a spot in the World Team to compete at the National Under-16 Championships in July.

While he excels on the field, he is equally impressive off it. Reville is always willing to help out others in his team and has taken on a coaching role with the local primary school girls’ side.

Swans ruckman Tippett said he’s proud to honour Troy’s legacy by giving Reville the best opportunity to follow his dreams of playing in the AFL.

“The scholarship will give assistance to a young footballer from the country to assist in pursuing a football career," Tippett said.

"Bruce will provide some financial aid to assist with his career and I will also be in regular touch with Bruce to provide him with any assistance and support that I can."
