Sydney Swans pair Kurt Tippett and Craig Bird will await the results of scans early in the week to determine the extent of injuries suffered against Hawthorn.

Bird was subbed from the game during the first quarter with a calf strain sitting on the bench for the majority of the game with the injury heavily iced.

It was a significant setback for Bird who was returning for his first match in the AFL side since the side’s Round 5 loss to the Western Bulldogs.

The prognosis for Tippett may be more positive with the big man playing the entire second half with a hand injury.

Tippett is expected to have a scan early in the week to determine whether the injury is set to keep him on the sidelines.

“He will have to get a scan but I think it was a pretty big impact upon his hand,” Longmire said on Tippett post match.

“He probably played the game out OK so I am not sure whether that is a good sign or not.

“He was in some pain at half time so we will have to see how it goes on Monday.”
