General Overview

It was great to have a hit-out against GWS on Friday night. Obviously, everyone trained pretty hard over the pre-season so it was good to get an idea of how they have physically prepared themselves for the game. We had a couple of injuries sustained during the match, but overall the guys pulled up reasonably well with some players cramping due to the hot conditions.

Fortunately, we had some fantastic facilities down in Albury so the players were able to recover well before flying home on Saturday.

Tom Papley

Tom sustained a moderate grade hamstring strain after sprinting in the first quarter and felt some pain in his left hamstring. On assessment, we think it is going to be roughly 4-6 weeks before he returns to play.

Lachlan Rankin

Lachie was playing his first game for the football club and unfortunately sustained a knock to his thumb which has resulted in a small fracture to the base of his thumb. He is going to have 2-3 weeks in a splint before he returns back to training.

Callum Sinclair

Callum Sinclair was going well but unfortunately had a significant knock with his opposition ruckman and sustained a concussion. He will undergo the AFL concussion protocols over the next 12 days.

Callum Mills

Callum is going quite well. He is back in full training and is managing to complete match play. He is sustaining full training loads, so we're just going to work with the rehabilitation team on when he is going to be able to return to play.

Joel Amartey

Joel is really healthy at the moment and is having no groin pain. He has had a really minimal pre-season so far so he is undergoing a conditioning block where he is focusing on his football work and aerobic conditioning. He will play some football this weekend with limited minutes and additional conditioning work around that as-well.
