Sydney Swans defender Lewis Melican will remain in the red and white until at least the end of 2025.
The strong defender has triggered a clause in his contract which automatically keeps him at the Swans beyond this season.
Having played all nine games in 2024, Melican is a key member of the Swans backline, regularly keeping some of the game’s best forwards in check.
He originally landed at the Swans with pick 52 in the 2015 rookie draft and has gone on to play 69 games since debuting in 2017.
The 27-year-old says he’s thrilled to be staying in the Harbour City.
“It’s a great feeling knowing I’ll be at the Swans for another season, we’re in a great spot as a squad at the moment,” Melican said.
“I worked extremely hard in the off season to get my body right and I feel as though I’m being rewarded.
“I’m excited about what the future holds at the Swans and can’t wait to get stuck in for the rest of the season.”
