The Sydney Swans have secured draft picks 32, 76 and Fremantle’s 2020 Round 3 pick in exchange for defender Zak Jones, pick 56 and next year’s Round 4 pick following a trade with St Kilda in the final minutes of the AFL Trade Period.

Jones was recruited by Sydney from the Dandenong Stingrays in Melbourne in the 2013 AFL Draft.

The 24-year-old, who was out of contract, played 90 games in red and white over six seasons.

Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner said the club’s pleased with the outcome of the trade.

“Zak expressed to us his desire to get back home to Melbourne during this trade period so we’re happy we were able to reach a mutually beneficial trade with St Kilda,” Gardiner said.

“Zak has been a fantastic player and much admired during his time at Sydney and we wish him all the best with the move back home and for the remainder of his football career.”
