Sydney Swans co-captain Josh Kennedy polled a perfect 10 votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year award for his sparkling performance in last Friday’s clash with the Adelaide Crows.

Although Sydney fell to a 26-point loss to Adelaide in its opening SCG fixture of the season, Kennedy posted 36 possessions and eight clearances in a backs-to-the-wall co-captain’s display.

Swans co-captain Dane Rampe (one vote) and star forward Lance Franklin (one) also impressed the coaches, while a host of Adelaide charges rounded out the votes.

Kennedy was also named in AFL.com.au’s Round 2 Team of the Week.
