The Sydney Swans have selected Elijah Taylor with pick 36 at the 2019 AFL Draft.

Elijah Taylor

Club: Perth

Height: 185cm

Weight: 75kg

Position: Medium forward

Profile

An elusive medium forward who has an impressive natural leap, clean ball-handling skills and a smart user of the ball from either foot around goal. He is a mercurial type of player and was dangerous up forward in Western Australia’s victorious 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships team, averaging 12.2 disposals and 1.5 goals to earn All Australian honours.

What they said

"Elijah is an Indigenous boy from Perth and he is an excitement machine. He's got a great leap, he's got terrific speed and he's got uncanny skills on both sides of the body by hand and foot. He probably slipped a bit in the draft because of work-rate issues, but we're preprared to work with him with that and give him the support he needs. He was an All Australian, named at centre half-forward, even though he's only 185 centimetres, and we think he can develop into a really, really good player if everything falls into place."
