The Sydney Swans can confirm that Nick Blakey has sustained a crack to his right fibula, in an incident during the third quarter of Saturday’s match against North Melbourne.

The club is seeking specialist advice on the best course of treatment for the injury, which may involve surgery, however can confirm Blakey will take no further part in the season.

Swans Executive General Manager of Football Charlie Gardiner said he was extremely disappointed for Blakey.

“Nick had played his way into some really strong form over the last two months, providing exciting run and carry for us out of defence,” he said.

“It is extremely disappointing to see him struck down with this injury at this point in the season.”

“While there is no firm timeline on his return from injury at this stage, we are confident he will be ready well in time for the start of preseason,” Gardiner said.
