The Sydney Swans will travel to Tasmania this week, where they will prepare for their Elimination Final against the GWS Giants on Saturday August 28.

Currently located in Victoria, Sydney Swans Chief Executive Tom Harley revealed on SEN this morning that the club’s movements beyond this weekend remain uncertain as Victoria faces another wave of Covid infections.

“The winner of our game plays loser of the qualifying final between Port Adelaide and Geelong. If it’s Port it would be in Adelaide, if it’s Geelong it could be in Tasmania, Adelaide or it could even be in Perth if you believe what you’re hearing,” Harley said.

“One thing I have learnt is that you play with the cards your dealt with and sometimes you’re dealt those cards a couple of hours before you have to act on them.

“I think in an ideal circumstance clarity and assurance is good, but we’re also understanding that it may not happen so we’ll go to Tasmania and expect to stay there for a period of time.

“We hope to win and stay there for a bit longer and work out where that next game is, but I’m sure we’ll need to be flexible somewhere along the way.

Sydney have dealt with plenty of challenges this season but the side has showed great resilience to finish in sixth position this season with just percentage keeping them out of the top four. The Swans have recorded a memorable 15 wins, just two shy of the club record of 17 wins.

From numerous travels interstate, Covid interruptions and last minute team changes, Harley is proud of how the side have handled the challenges and shown plenty of resilience along the way.

“The resilience of the group has been extraordinary, and John Longmire has led that,” Harley said.

“John is coaching as well as he ever has, he’s certainly leading as well as he ever has and helping senior players work their way through some challenges to have a winning season finishing up 15 and 7, and importantly giving ourselves a shot to have a memorable month. I’m really proud of the club.“
