The Pride Game will return to the SCG in 2022 with the Sydney Swans to host the annual fixture when we take on St Kilda in Round 15.

The game was established between the two sides in 2016 to celebrate diversity and inclusion, and ensure everyone feels welcome at the football.

The match is also an opportunity to listen, learn and highlight stories from the LGBTIQA+ community.

It will be the first time our players run out in the pride guernsey in front of a home crowd, while players will also don rainbow socks for the game. HBSC, the Official Pride Game Partner of the Sydney Swans, will be bringing a host of colourful activities to the match.

The club is also proud to announce the Sydney Swans will march in the Mardi Gras Parade for a fifth consecutive year, joining the world’s biggest celebration of LGBTIQA+ pride.

Sydney Swans staff and players will be joined by members of the club’s official LGBTIQA+ supporter group, the Rainbow Swans, along with representatives from key partners including QBE and HSBC.

The 44th Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade will once again be held at our home, the SCG, on Saturday, March 5.

This year’s theme, ‘united, we SHINE,’ will bring together a dazzling display of pride and self-expression with more than 6,500 participants across 160 glittering floats.

Sydney Swans Head of People and Culture Scott Dalby said the club is proud to be part of the event, which will bring people together in celebration.

“This year’s theme, ‘United we shine,’ is exactly what our community needs after two years of challenges where, for the most part, we have been isolated from friends and loved ones,” Dalby said.

“Together, our Sydney Swans community will unite and shine brighter than ever as we look to lead by example in listening, learning, and ensuring everyone feels welcome at the footy.

“We’re really proud to have been the first club to have a float in the parade in 2018 and we’re thrilled to be involved once again.”
