Sydney Swans trio Will Gould, Lewis Taylor and Joel Amartey have tonight been named in the 2022 VFL Team of the Year.

The trio were all recognised for their outstanding individual seasons in the competition and were named in the final 24-man team.

Amartey, who played in the AFL side in Rounds 3-12-17-18-19-20 this season, was selected in a key forward spot in the Team of the Year after averaging 3.0 goals, 6.8 marks, 15.1 disposal and a 4.1 hit-outs through 12 VFL games.

He finished fourth on the VFL goal-kicking table with 36, behind Gold Coast’s Chris Burgess (52) and Box Hill pair Fergus Greene (49) and Ben Cavarra (41).

Taylor, who made his only AFL appearance this year as the unused medical substitute in Round 15 against St.Kilda, ranks 12th in aggregate VFL possessions despite playing only 14 of a possible 18 games, and has averaged 29.3 possessions per game.

Gould has had a strong all-round campaign in 2022, playing all 18 VFL games with an average of 18.9 possessions.

The Sydney Swans VFL side finished the regular season in fourth place on the competition ladder, however saw their 2022 campaign end following a defeat to the Gold Coast Suns in the Semi Finals.
