Isaac Heeney and Callum Mills have been named in the inaugural 22Under22 Team of the Decade. Voting was opened across the AFL in February to celebrate 10 years of the fan-voted honour and coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the AFL Players' Association. 

All previously selected players for Team of the Year were eligible with seven current Sydney Swans players nominated, including Chad Warner, Luke Parker, Nick Blakey, Tom McCartin and Tom Papley. Heeney, now 26, and Mills, 25, were selected by fans out of an eligible 143 players across the sporting code. 

Heeney, a QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate, was drafted in 2014. In his first year with the club he played 14 matches. The medium forward now has many accolades to his name including selection in two of his eligible four years for the 22Under22 Team of the Year, the 2018 AFL Mark of the Year award, and selection in the All Australian team in 2022. Last season also marked 150 games with the Swans where he was awarded life membership. In the 2023 pre-season he joined the leadership group.

Mills has enjoyed similar success with the club after he making his debut in 2016 - consequently appearing in 22 matches during the season - and thus winning the 2016 AFL Rising Star award. Also an Academy graduate, Mills was elevated to Sydney’s leadership group during the 2018 pre-season at the age of just 21. The past 12 months has seen the midfielder earn his first All Australian selection and awarded the Bob Skilton Medal as the Sydney Swans Club Champion for 2022.
