Pride Game and month are moments to remember and celebrate the efforts and accomplishments for us as a community.

While we’ll see many posts that will allow us to remember to celebrate and smile, we also know that we’ll sadly see some posts and comments that remind us that the fight for recognition and equality is still ongoing.

No.1 Ticket Holder Sarina Jackson

I am the Chairperson of the Rainbow Swans and this year's No 1 Ticket Holder of the Sydney Swans. I have read much vitriol and hatred towards my community and the Sydney Swans for taking part in the Pride Game against St Kilda this week.

This game is so important to represent to all that everyone is equal, welcome and wanted, regardless of  their sexuality, gender identity and expression.

We are reporting any comments we see on our sites or the Swans' sites. We encourage you to do the same.

Many of us have sadly become used to seeing these comments and posts. That definitely doesn’t make them okay and they do hurt.

Sadly, these hurtful comments can lead to devastating consequences for people in our community.

If you need to talk or reach out to someone, please do. Also, organisations like Twenty10 and Lifeline are here to listen and support as well.

So, let’s make sure we celebrate the uplifting posts and comments and show up loud, colourful and proud this Thursday night to cheer on the men’s team and recognise their support for Pride and our community.
