Sofia Hurley has been rewarded for a standout performance in Round 8 against the Western Bulldogs with her second AFLW Rising Star Nomination.

The midfielder produced one her finest efforts of the season with two goals, 24 disposals, 12 contested and eight tackles to inspire the Swans to a mammoth 57-point victory.

It’s the second time Hurley has been nominated after earning the same feat in Round 9 of the 2022 campaign, following her 15 disposals and four clearances against Fremantle.

"It’s very humbling to be nominated for Rising Star, and I know it sounds cliché, but I can’t be in a position to play well without my team-mates,” Hurley said.

“It was one of the best games I have been part of in my career so far, and I feel like we’re building every week.

“There is a strong connection amongst the playing group at the moment so I’m really excited about the next two games.”

She joined the Swans with the club's second selection (pick five) in the 2022 AFLW Draft from the Sandringham Dragons, playing her junior footy with the Port Melbourne Colts.
