VFL SWANS v GIANTS MATCH CENTRE
The Swans challenged the top-of-the-table Giants for most of the game but their cross-town rivals overran them in the last quarter to claim a VFL Sydney Derby win.
The Swans were quick out of the blocks, kicking the first of the afternoon but the Giants soon responded with a couple of their own and the quarter turned into an old-fashioned shootout with five goals each with Sydney taking a three-point lead into the first break.
Scoring dried up in the second term with just one goal for the quarter, through Angus Sheldrick who was busy across the ground with 14 first half disposals to go with the goal.
The Swans started the second half with goals to Ladhams and Tom Hanily who were both busy up forward but from then on it was all the Giants.
GWS kicked eight goals to three in the second half as the Swans lead became a deficit in the final term and the Giants kicked away to record a 26-point win.
For the Swans Caleb Mitchell finished with 35 disposals, Nick Shipley 24 while Hanily (3 goals) and Ladhams (2 goals) were the pick of the forwards for the Swans.
The Swans next task is an away fixture against Essendon on Saturday May 10 at Windy Hill.
