Hanily Signs On

On Wednesday, it was announced that emerging young forward Tom Hanily has signed a two-year contract extension.

The 20-year-old will remain in the red and white until at least the end of 2027.

Hanily was recruited by Sydney with pick 14 in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft after impressing in the VFL for the Gippsland Power.

The 20-year-old made his AFL debut in Opening Round earlier this season and has gone on to feature in seven games, kicking six goals.

Cox: "As a footy club, when you perform like that, you can't hide from it."

Sydney senior coach Dean Cox spoke to the media on Thursday about the side's upcoming clash against Richmond at the MCG on Saturday. When asked about how the team reviewed the loss against Adelaide, he said the side talked about how to rectify their last two performances.

"As a footy club, when you perform like that, you can't hide from it," Cox said.

"We showed areas that we need to improve on, areas that weren't up to standard and spoke about how we get out of that.

"The vision was the vision, but it's now about trying to make sure that you can rectify those two performances we've had the last two weeks.

Like I sort of said after the game, the contest pressure, effort and intensity all over the ground were just well below par. To Adelaide's credit, they're a great football team, but on our home deck or certainly in any game, we can't deliver performances like that."
