Sydney Swans AFLW assistant coach Tanya Hetherington shares her thoughts on the team's Round 1 victory and the week ahead.
What was the most pleasing part of the win over Richmond on Friday night?
I think the most pleasing part of the win was that everyone played their role. It was a very even team performance, and I think that was the most pleasing aspect.
We had two AFLW debutants in Zippy Fish and Caitlin Reid? How did they perform?
It was great to have two debutants for Round 1. Zippy showed poise beyond her years, showcasing her incredible talent. Reidy played an important role in the ruck and forward, and it was great to see her debut!
As the midfield coach, how great was it to have Ally Morphett and Mon Ham back at their best in the middle?
It was fantastic to see both Ally and Mon fit and firing! Both of those players play really important roles in our team, and seeing them at their best is great not only for us but for the competition.
How important is it to get wins early in the season to build confidence?
Really important. Every win you can bank is crucial towards finals, especially early in the season, as it is such an even competition.
What will the team focus on in training this week?
There is always plenty to work on at training, win loss or draw so we will continue to work on every aspect of our game in order to get better.
