We’re thrilled to announce that Australian Idol winner Royston Noell will perform live at Sunday’s game between the Sydney Swans and Carlton at Henson Park, as part of the AFLW’s Pride Round.

A proud Thanakwith and Wagadagam man from Mapoon, Far North Queensland, Royston has become a powerful representative for both First Nations and queer communities through his music.

Known for his soulful vocals, powerhouse stage presence, and an attitude that celebrates loving the skin you’re in, Royston’s performances have attracted comparisons to Sam Smith, Beyoncé, and Adele.

The performance will add to festival vibes that have become a hallmark of Sydney Swans AFLW games.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW Football, Amanda said the club is proud to continue its commitment to celebrating LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

“Pride Round is a special one for our club as it’s about bringing people together, celebrating our diverse community, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome,” Turner said.

“We’re excited to welcome Royston to our game. His music and message captured the hearts of fans nationwide through Australian Idol, and he continues to inspire with his uplifting energy and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

“This is our first home game since a record-breaking 7,171 turned up at Henson Park for the Sydney Derby and we’re hoping to see another big crowd for this weekend’s match.”
