On this weekend's game
“Well, it's a must-win for us, so I will predict that they'll be out for a win as well. So, yeah, we just need to bring our strengths and play the best we can.”
On the challenge of playing four quarters of footy
“Melbourne is a really good side and they have a lot of experience, but I think it's probably been something we've struggled with throughout the season. Just trying to maintain like four quarter footy against good sides, so I think that's a real focus this weekend. West Coast have had a really good season, so it's just really focusing on playing four quarters of footy and playing our way and the way we want to play on the day."
On the home ground advantage at Henson
"We love playing at Henson because obviously you have a lot of fans that come out and support us, and we really feel that on the day, so we love having our fans come out and it obviously reflects on us and the way we play. We really appreciate that. It's just really knuckling down on the day and just trying to zone into what we want to do. There's obviously a lot of outside noise and you hear positions on the ladder, but I think it's just being right in the moment and just doing what we can in that moment."
On celebrating her 50-game milestone
“Yeah I've had a good football journey so far, so it's pretty exciting to be playing 50 games, so I'm excited I have family coming up which will be nice.”
On what the club means to her
“I've absolutely loved my time at Swans, they've given me the opportunity that probably I've struggled to get and I think I've just tried to make the most of it. I really enjoy every second that I've been here, so it's really fun being part of the Swans.”
On her favourite moment at the Swans
"Probably everyone always says our first win, but I reckon it was our first finals win. So that's probably, my favourite moment up in the Gold Coast. It was just a surreal feeling.”
On the determination to make finals
"Every team wants to play finals. But I think, you know, us in particularly we've had a taste of it in 2023 and we want to get back there this year in 2025. So yeah, that's been the goal all season and we've trained so long, so hard. So yeah, that would be a reward for us, but we do need to do the work first. So, that will come down to this weekend as well.”
On Tanya Kennedy
"She's always had a crazy work ethic. She runs the midfield in there, so it's really good to have her and work alongside her in there. But I think it's just her leadership. She obviously hasn't played AFL all her life, so, you know, to come into an AFL side and then start playing AFL and then really drive the standards it's a credit to her. She's an amazing player, and this year I think she's just stood out incredibly and she doesn't get the credit that she deserves, that's a definite.
On the impact of returning players
“Yeah you know, having a full list is great, but injuries do happen in footy. So, yeah, it's obviously been tough, and I know it's been tough on the girls that don't get to play. But, yeah, it would be good having both of them (Sofia and Chloe) definitely out there.”
On Scott’s message to the team
“We haven't really spoke about the future of the two games, it's really just been a focus on this week. So basically just we want to knuckle down, have good sessions on the track and then come out and do what we do best and stick to our process and just play well on the weekend. So we haven't really looked past the weekend, but it's just really focusing on West Coast.
On using the “must-win” factor
“Yeah, I think when you look at like desperation to score goals, we just need to maintain our composure and really stick to our process. We love the pressure; we've always been a side. We are a very high-pressure side, so we play very quickly, and I think when pressure comes from opposition, we just need to be able to maintain that, and we probably haven't done that against the good sides this year. So that's probably been the key aspect to what we want to do this weekend. And we want to play full four quarters of footy and not drop off”.
On facing West Coast
“Yeah, they definitely have key standout players and the whole group as a whole has been really good this year. We'll have a deep dive into them on Thursday for our training. But at the moment, we're just doing what we do and then we'll look a bit into them and really dive into what we need to do, you know, match-up. But at the moment, we're just sticking to what we do as a whole.”
