Sydney Swans midfielder Tanya Kennedy headlines a host of AFLW players who have re-committed to the red and white.
The Irishwoman has inked a two-year deal to remain in the Harbour City until at least the end of 2027, following a career-best season where she averaged 19 disposals and eight tackles.
Kennedy is one of eight players to extend their stays, with QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduates Holly Cooper and Amelia Martin also signing on until 2027. Cooper booted 10 goals from 12 games in her second campaign, and Martin lined up in six games following her debut in Round 2.
Irish pair Julie O’Sullivan and Paris McCarthy have recommitted until at least the end of 2026 along with exciting young forward Sarah Grunden and versatile tall Lexi Hamilton.
Experienced defender Jas Grierson has also penned a one-year deal, extending her career into a 10th season.
Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW Football, Amanda Turner, said it was pleasing to have secured the eight re-signings.
“It’s fantastic to have a mix of youth and experience re-commit to our club,” Turner said.
“We’ve been really happy with what we’ve seen from the young players in our squad and know they will continue to be well guided by our senior players.
“We believe all eight players are an important part of our future and we are excited to see what they can achieve moving forward.”
