The Sydney Swans have welcomed two-time Premiership forward Taylor Smith to the club in a three-club trade completed with the Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn.
The Swans receive Smith and picks 18, 28 and 46 in the upcoming 2025 AFLW Draft, in exchange for picks 11, 29 and 47 in this year’s draft, which goes to Brisbane, and a future first and third round draft pick, which goes to Hawthorn.
Smith is a proven performer at the top level, having won two Premierships with the Lions (‘21,’23) and won the AFLW goal-kicking award in 2024 as well as being selected in the All-Australian team in the same season.
Since her debut 2020, Smith has played 77 AFLW games in total and kicked 67 goals. She booted 18 goals this season to help the Lions into another Grand Final.
Sydney Swans Executive General Manager, AFLW Football, Amanda Turner, has welcomed Smith to the club.
“We really rate Taylor as a player and a person and we feel she will add a lot to our squad,” Turner said.
“Having played a key role in two premierships, she knows what success looks like and she will complement our existing playing group really well.
“Over the last couple of seasons, Taylor has established herself as one of the AFLW’s best forwards and we think she can have an immediate impact for us next season.”
