The Sydney Swans, alongside match day and pride partner Adora Fertility, will celebrate and stand united with LGBTIQA+ communities, when they host St Kilda for Pride Game at the SCG, in Round 13.
Established in 2016 through a collaboration with the Saints, the Pride Game has become a powerful symbol of diversity in sport, carrying the message that everyone is welcome at the football.
Swans players will wear the club’s Pride Guernsey for the match, which integrates the colours of the Progress Pride Flag into the iconic red and white design, a powerful symbol of unity, identity, and progress.
Sydney Swans CEO Matthew Pavlich said the club was proud to be a leader in LGBTIQA+ visibility and inclusivity by once again hosting Pride Game at the SCG.
“Pride Game at the SCG is a significant match on our calendar, which resonates deeply with the Rainbow Swans and our wider LGBTIQA+ supporter base,” Pavlich said.
“It’s a reflection of our commitment to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment at our games and a great celebration of football and diversity.”
After becoming the first professional sporting club to have a float in the Mardi Gras Parade in 2018, the Sydney Swans will also show their support by marching in a ninth consecutive Mardi Gras parade this Saturday night.
LGBTIQA+ Pride is one of four key pillars in the Sydney Swans’ Diversity Action Plan. The club works closely with the Rainbow Swans and youth organisation Twenty10 to ensure its Pride initiatives are impactful and meaningful. Adora Fertility joined the red and white as Official Pride Partner last season, further strengthening the club’s commitment to inclusion.
Sydney’s AFL and AFLW Pride Guernsey is now available to purchase at the Swanshop.
