The Sydney Swans will pay tribute to the victims of the Bondi Beach tragedy with a minute’s silence before their Opening Round match against Carlton.
 
Sydney and Carlton players will link arms as the SCG pauses for reflection in remembrance of those who lost their lives.
 
Victims, affected family members and first responders will be honoured at 7.26pm.
 
The tribute and will include a round of applause, recognising the efforts and service of emergency response agencies and members of the Jewish community.
 
Sydney Swans CEO Matthew Pavlich said it was important to recognise such a traumatic event in our own backyard.
 
“At the Sydney Swans, everyone is welcome and respect is at the core of what we do and how we operate,” Pavlich said.
 
“Before our seasons starts officially and we compete on the field, we want to come together and honour those who lost their lives and were injured in the event and acknowledge the many brave men and women who assisted on the day and in the days and weeks that followed.
 
“Our thoughts will always be with the victims of this tragedy.”

  • From NSW Ambulance, Wendy Marning, Emergency Medical Call Taker and Paramedic, Manny Liebermann.
  • Representing our hospital workers, Megan Clody - Operating Theatres Registered Nurse, Prince of Wales Hospital and Lynne Fitzsimons - Nurse Manager, Emergency Department, Sydney Children’s Hospital, at Randwick.
  • Waverley Council Surf Life Savers, Trent Falson and Troy Quinlan.
  • Representatives from Surf Life Saving NSW, James Worrell and Brent Williams.
  • From NSW Police - Detective Senior Constable Cesar Barraza and Constable Charlton Gordon.
  • From the SES, Vladimir Kotlyar.
  • Community Health Support responders, Brandon Reed and Sarcha Lechem.
  • From Hatzolah, Rabbi Mendy Litzman and Oded Simmon.
  • Representing our community heroes, Arkmed Al Arkmed.
