Four years since Buddy 1000

Today marks four years since Lance 'Buddy' Franklin kicked his 1000th career goal on the SCG against the Geelong Cats.

He recalled the moment in an interview with Sydney Swans Media following his retirement, crediting his teammates across the Swans and Hawthorn.

“The build-up to the game and to finally get there was a special moment. I’ve always said this, but to kick the 100 goals, to kick the 1000 goals. I couldn’t have done that without the [people] I played with and the two special clubs that have been awesome on my journey," Franklin shared.

Mitchell signs one-year contract extension

Sydney Swans AFLW defender Alice Mitchell has extended her commitment to the red and white, signing a one-year contract extension until at least the end of 2027 this week.

Mitchell was drafted to Sydney with pick 13 in the 2022 AFLW draft, and after missing the club’s inaugural season through injury, has established herself as a reliable defender.

Injury Update

In injury news this week it was revealed that Isaac Heeney would be a test to play in Round 4 against the West Coast Eagles after experiencing hamstring tightness in a clash with the Brisbane Lions.

Meanwhile, Errol had successful surgery on his shoulder last week. He will be in a sling for the first 2 weeks of his rehabilitation and expected to remain sidelines for three to four months.
